Hi David I have a transcript on microfiche of the Thorney PRs, but they stop at 1837. According to the index there is no baptism for a Susan/nah SEARLE, nor marriage or burial for a William. I also have the 1841 census transcript for Thorney, but no sign of them there. Have you checked the Cambs. FHS searchable databases? (http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html). I searched for SEARLE in Thorney in 1851 and found a James & Hannah SEARLE with children including Susannah aged 11 - wrong father's name of course. Unfortunately the 1861 census for Cambridgeshire on CDs does not include Thorney, much to my surprise, so can't check that for you. I assume Susannah's married name was BIRD? I had a quick look for her in 1871 and 1891 on the Ancestry site, but didn't find her. If you could give me her husband's first name I could look for him on those censuses if you think it might help.
