Thicko that I am, I didn't realise that the Indenture my father has had for 20 years has the main characters of my 5xGr Grandparents as the main players - until tonight !! I've attempted to type up the document, putting question marks where I can't read the word, but it still doesn't make sense. Who can I talk to to put it into modern english for me ? The document is dated 1813 if that's any help. Usually in the case of a divorce property settlement, according to the banks, but also in other cases such as my husband and myself when he first started working for himself. The bank got rather annoyed as the wording made them assume we had divorced - which we hadn't - and not told them. I also suspect the fine on the property might mean rental. I have them on the birth of my Nan in 1890 & 1891 census at 33 South Crescent Mews Pancras London, & in 1896 at 28 South Crescent Mews on the birth certificate of their son John. I have the family on the 1901 census still at 28 South Crescent Mews but it gives Emma as a wife born Newmarket.
