Hello all, Have just resubscribed to this list, after a break of around two years. My grandparents come from Cambridge and I have not visited the town for about 30 years. Myself and my Mum who is in her 80's are visiting in a couple of weeks for a two day stay. We are coming armed with a list of address hoping to have a look at some of the homes my ancestors lived in. Also spending some time at the record office. I would be ever so grateful for some advice before our visit, these are the places we hope to see. My great grandfather had to music shop at 8 Regent street 1882 My great grandfather was a compositor and lived 23 Melbourn Place 1885 My great, great grandfather was a Painter and Glazier and lived 8 Silver Street 1853 My great great grandfather was a Victualler in Castle Street 1850, would love to know which Pub. My great grandmother was born at 6 Paradise street.1854 Her father was a college coal servant, we don't know where, but would like to know how we could find out. A relative that was a Hairdresser in Elm Street in 1848 In 1901 my grandfather lived at 61 Victoria Road Chesterton, am I right in thinking this address no longer exits. I realise I am asking far too much but any little help would be very gratefully received and just one more question is there a good collection of old maps and photographs at the record office. Thanks for reading this, we are both looking forward very much to our visit to Cambridge, I will post the Surnames that we are interested in another time. Liz and her Mum Mary
