In a2a have seen reference in a settlement dispute one of my ancestors cited as employing a disputant . Do understand these fairs but were there any long term records made and if so do any survive or is it as I suspect that there was no control with those who wanted help and those who wanted work just turned up and it was left at that . Tho this does seem lax as residency was essential when going onto the parish. Just wonder did the early Baptists specialise in poor relief and also keep records of this , seperate from the established church .? Mick Wilson .
