That's Ruth's father. He was from Crosby Ravensworth, Westmorland, a poor kid on scholarship to Cambridge. His wife, Mary Roots, died in 1836. Something tell me all the kids got shipped off to private schools. The Roots were wealthy, and when Mary died her money allowed her surviving children, and husband, to be financially secure. The children were born in the following years, based on a letter from Frank to his sister: George Reveley (1824) Samuel John Reveley (1826) Ruth Reveley nee Smyth (1828) Elizabeth Reveley (1832) Hmmm...I have George the father born in 1792. ?? Mary was from Chatham, I don't know anything about her family, either. Nope, I'm not a direct descendant, no hidden treasures for me. :( I'm just the genealogy addict in the bunch. xxx Sarah
