I have found a death for William CHOAT, listed on IGI as died 24/03/1917 but born West Wratting Cambridgeshire in 1845 with father Henry CHOAT. There are no sources available. I know that William was in West Wratting in 1851 (census index), not with his parents, but their is no mention of Henry in Cambridgeshire in either 1841 or 1851. Could enyone help with either a farther flung census look up or personal knowledge of the family? There was another William CHOAT, born in West Wratting in about 1835, but from another family, and living in Woodditton in 1951. Many thanks in advance, Heatha

Found the following on Ancestry.com in the Civil Registration for England (Does not require a membership to view this): Name: CHOAT, William Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1844 District: Linton County: Cambridgeshire Essex Volume: 14 Page: 86 To be certain of this I checked Linton on Genuki and got the following information. Seems to say that West Wratting is part of Linton: Linton Created 1st July 1837. Mainly in Cambridgeshire, but included parts of Essex. Sub-districts : Balsham, Duxford, Linton. GRO volumes : XIV (1837-51), 3b (1852-1930). Babraham, Balsham, Bartlow, Carlton, Castle Camps, Duxford, Great Abington, Hildersham, Hinxton, Horseheath, Ickleton, Linton, Little Abington, Pampisford, Sawston, Shudy Camps, Weston Colville, West Wickham, West Wratting, Whittlesford. Registers now divided between Cambridge and Uttlesford districts. With this information, you should be able to order his birth registration for information on his parents. Can someone out there tell us once again the website and/or e-mail address to do this. My apologies if this is plowing old ground.
