i am in search of burial location of my my ancestor. her name is Madeline A Bowles. she died at age 96 10 Warrington Grove ,Warrington ,Peterborough. year 1965. on 26 th day of march. i have death certificate does not list burial place. any help would be appreciated. Hubert , flt1469@bellsouth.net
You may find an orbituary for Madeline in the local newspaper in Peterborough. The public library would be the most likely place to find all the back copies of the paper. If they haven't got them, they will be able to tell you where they are lodged. Orbituaries often give the details of which cemetery was used. Good luck, Jean. ----- Original Message ----- From: "hff" <flt1469@bellsouth.net> To: <ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2004 10:28 AM Subject: [ENG-CAMB] INFORMATION REQUEST > i am in search of burial location of my my ancestor. her name is Madeline A Bowles. > she died at age 96 10 Warrington Grove ,Warrington ,Peterborough. year 1965. > on 26 th day of march. > i have death certificate does not list burial place. > any help would be appreciated. > Hubert , > > flt1469@bellsouth.net > > > ==== ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Mailing List ==== > . > >
Hubert Indeed, the Reference Library would be the place to start. As this is recent, you are probably likely to only find a death notice together with funeral arrangements, if the next of kin wished to pay for a notice. If one was paid for, it would most likely have appeared in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph which has been microfilmed, and copies should be held at the library http://www.peterborough.gov.uk/subsites/libraries/central.shtml One thing though, you require WERRINGTON - both the street and village, which has now become a suburb of Peterborough, but at that time was separated from the City by a couple of fields at least. The funeral could have therefore taken place at Werrington Church if she was buried or at Peterborough Crematorium. Presumably if you have the burial certificate, you will have the informant's name and will know whether he/she is still alive. As this is within living memory, it might be worth dropping a line to the paper, in case any one remembers her.
