Hi Estelle, I had found out that John had retired to Chatham in about 1867 but was fascinated by the military history you sent me. I had not been able to place the regiment in Ireland although I knew that his wife was Irish. I also knew little of their time in India or Africa. Thanks for the help it is really appreciated.
