Hello Margaret, I too have Pannifer in my husband's tree. >From the family Bible we know that William Pannifer b 06 11 1837 at Sproughton, Suffolk married on 11 03 1861 to Harriet Steel in sproughton. They had nine children of whom Matilda Mary b 25 11 1876 married Herbert Pearce, my husband's grandfather. He was a Sergeant of Police in Chatteris Cambs. William was soldier and his children were born in Ireland, Hampshire, Ottawa, Hochalaga (also Canada), Dover, Turnham Green and the youngest, Herbert, in Hounslow Barracks. Does this help at all? I have not yet started to explore this line any further but will hope to get round to it soon.
