    1. [ENG-CAMS] Hillsden/Rawlings families
    2. I am a new subscriber and have read through the archives with great interest, especially noting that some of you have connections in Chatteris. I have got stuck with my Hillsden/Rawlings family there. I know that Jane and John Rawlings were aged 25 in 1841 and both were said to have been born in the county but I am unable to trace either their marriage or births. From a Will it seems that Jane was nee Hillsden. I have seen elsewhere (on the Oxford list) another researcher mentions these names some years ago but is not answering to his Email address. I would welcome any helpful advice Barbara Coordinating FreeCens for LND Whitechapel and parts of Bethnal Green, Mile End and Stepney. 3. On the site at www.cfhs.org.uk/ I found the following baptism. Note the slight difference in surname spelling. Have you checked this out? Also, remember that in 1841, ages were rounded down to the nearest 5-years. 1815 HILSDEN Jane S. 22d Castle St. d. of Samuel & Susannah Camb. St.Giles * Also found two possible baptisms for John. Note the spelling here of his last name: 1815 RAWLING John F. - ----- illeg. s. of Sarah Upwell * 1813 RAWLING John 17d ----- s. of John & Mary Chatteris * Have you looked them up in the 1851 census? I found them on the index as follows, but do not have access to the details. Perhaps sks could check this as the 1851 census cites where they say they were born: Surname Forenames Age Parish or Town Film Folio RAWLINGS John 45 Chatteris HO107/1765 311B RAWLINGS Jane 47 Chatteris HO107/1765 311B Good luck, Judy -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:29 AM To: Cambridgeshire List Subject: [ENG-CAMS] Hillsden/Rawlings families I am a new subscriber and have read through the archives with great interest, especially noting that some of you have connections in Chatteris.
