William HAWKINS, who from the first, after the consecration of the Church, jointly with Mr T DIXON, without any remuneration, undertook the management of the lamps and lighting of the church, continued to do so with great care and regularity for 15 years, after which time, Mr T DIXON was disabled by a paralytic stroke, and Mr W HAWKINS continued to carry on his willing service, until the end of last winter. William HAWKINS was a trustworthy and valued servant in the employ of the same family for a great number of years up to the time of his death. He was also one of the oldest members, and took an active part in the management of the Foresters' Club On January 8th, 1890, Mrs Ann MEWS was followed to the grave by her five sons and three daughters, and laid to rest in the churchyard of the old mother church at Parson drove. George MEWS, her husband, was taken to the same resting place, and laid beside her on January 17th. Through 45 years of married life they lived in perfect love and peace together, and in answer to their united prayers that either should be spared a lonely old age, they passed away within ten days of each other, with the united affection and love of their sorrowing children and grandchildren.
