    1. [ENG-CAMS] Re Edward Elborn

    3. Hello to Helen Wallis, It's Janette here from Australia. I was interested in your email of the 6th January re Edward ELBORN. I have oodles of ELBORN...various spellings...in my connected file from Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire. I looked up & found an Edward chris.29.6.1837 Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire. Seeing Martha Vango married Wm Partridge in London 1855 I thought she'd probably be born c.1835 so my Edward could be a possibility .Query?...when did William Partridge die? Re Edward ELBORN I haven't got any marriage info.for him or his death either recorded. Edward's parents were Thomas ELBOURNE 1791-1849 & Sarah Ann AUSTIN who married 11.4.1816 in Little Shelford.& they had 8 children. I reckon this Edward could be your missing Edward who had 3 children with Martha Partridge nee Vango . I have lots of Cambridge families intermarried into my Mansfield / Newling lines including Elbourne various spellings. Regards, Janette Pfeifer in Oz

    3. Hello Janette Thanks for your email. Thanks to everyone else who has responded, I am trying to follow up as many leads as I can. Janette, I have found the death of an Edward Elborn in Christchurch, New Zealand age 72 years in 1910, Born in England, which would make his birth date about 1838. I am guessing but I have managed to locate an Edward Elborn who lived not far from Martha in London on the 1861 Census. It seems his wife died in 1861 ( I have just sent for the death certificate to see if this can give me any further information). I believe that Martha's first husband was still alive when she ran off with Edward? I have found a possible candidate on the 1881 census for William Partridge and I cannot locate a death certificate for him. It would seem he may well have still been alive when she married for a third time! The Edward Elborn I am chasing up at the moment was born in Cherry Hinton, Cambridgeshire in 1838. Mother Sarah, father unknown (at the moment). I am by no means sure this is the correct Edward Elborn but the dates and locations in London mean they were only a few miles apart. I would definitely be interested in any information you have on an Edward Elborn who was in New Zealand in 1860-70 or if you know if he ever worked or travelled to London. Did he work on the railways? There is a suggestion from family members he may have been a rail worker.
