    1. [ENG-CAMS] Deacon's School Auction of Memorabilia
    2. Christine Cunningham
    3. I have been reading in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph this week about an auction of Deacon's memorabilia on the last day of term. I am really upset about this as you will see from the letter I have written to the newspaper for publication - below. I hope you will join me in protesting somehow about this sale. The article re the sale can be found here: http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/viewarticle.aspx?sectionid=845&articleid= 2974716 And this is my response Further to your article "Last chance to see inside Deacon's School" I write with reference to the proposed auction of Deacon's School memorabilia. I am appalled that up to 300 years worth of memories, photo's, art & trophies are to be auctioned off. Three generations of my family attended Deacons School and I expect there are families in Peterborough with a lot more generations attended than ours. The items up for auction are a part of Peterborough's heritage and should be kept together. I can just about understand why all three feeder schools to the Academy can't keep everything together on the new school site although it is big enough, but surely they should be kept for future generations to research their local & family history - either by the museum or a local benefactor. I just hope that a former pupil or associate of the school will come forward and bid for the whole collection in order to keep it together. Individual items scattered around the world are of no use to local people. I also question where the money raised from this auction is to go and what right the school feel they have in selling off our heritage to the highest bidder.
