Hi, I am trying to find where a man called Cresswell DIXEY of Harwell, Oxon came from originally. There do not seem to be any DIXEYs in Oxon/Berks before him. He arrived in Harwell before 1717. Judging by his name I would guess his parents were <male> DIXEY & <female> CRESSWELL. His son and grandson were called Francis DIXEY so it is possible his father was also called Francis DIXEY. Looking at the IGI it appears that DIXEYs pre 1717 came either from Beds, Cambs or London. There are also CRESSWELLs in Cambs & London. Is anyone researching these names or know where Cresswell may have come from?
