    3. Hello all - I'm new to this list and am asking for information re Thomas Marsh who, in October1821 married Mary Ann Turner in Holy Trinity Cambridge. My question is this- can I find out where Thomas was born by his marriage banns in Holy Trinity, or perhaps by the parish records of All Saints Cambridge where his sons were baptised ? I suspect he may have been born in Balsham in 1805, the son of Robert and Bennet Marsh. If any lister has interests in Marsh of Balsham, or can steer me in the right direction to verify my Thomas Marshs' origins I would be really pleased to hear from you. With thanks, Joy in New Zealand

    3. Hi Joy, It really depends on how pedantic the vicar was.... For example the Banns or marriage may state Thomas Marsh of Balsham and Mary Ann Of this parish..... But that being said OTP or of this Parish can be applied to someone that has been in the Parish for some length of time, or has a good living in the Parish. But it is worth getting the PR's out. You may find her family. Plus sometimes the first child is baptised in the females home parish because birthing was precarious, they sometimes went home for the first birth. All sorts of reasons to cover your bases. try these two websites for Cambs..... www.calm.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/archiveCatalogue http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html Cheers Pam from Adelaide Australia > Hello all - I'm new to this list and am asking for information re Thomas > Marsh who, in October1821 married Mary Ann Turner in Holy Trinity > Cambridge.
