    3. There is another source that I forgot last night - have you tried GoogleBooks? I have found a great deal of information on persons who were either public figures, clergyman or who might appear in some sort of official record. For example [though this is a hundred years later], I found several Faulkners who attended St. Paul's School in London, as the school's register is on GoogleBooks. The register also listed the scholarships the boys received to go to university. This was a totally unexpected find as we had no idea they went to that school. This lead also confirmed their father's name. Sometimes it takes some patience to get the right combination when searching but I have had good luck with clergymen or military men. This is purely a guess but if Cambridge did not list a grammar school or other [public]school for him, then perhaps he was tutored privately. Liane

    3. Hi Liane First I must apologise for not coming back sooner. I have been rather busy for last few days and only just got back to family history. Obviously I had done Google searches for him but had never thought of Google Books. I have now done that and there were many hits. Some could be ruled out immediately and one or two related to information that I had already found. This left a considerable number that need further investigation and I shall be doing just that as time permits. Once again many thanks.
