    3. Thanks Carol & David for explanation on LDS British FHL microfilms! David, I know I should recall what BVRI stands for, but alas I cannot pull it from my memory. I will go ahead and order the microfilm as I wanted to comb thru it for any WHALEY and associated family names in Elm. However, I wonder if the BVRI would show banns/marriage of William Kitchen to Mary Ann Whaley in 1848 and if it provides any info other than a date of banns/marriage. Is the BVRI searchable online? Thanks, Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol J Markillie<mailto:cjmarkillie@gmail.com> To: eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com<mailto:eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 10:25 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-CAMS] Elm parish records from LDS Hi Sue: The description "British Film" means that it is of a church register in Britain, not that the film is only there. I'm in the USA also and have read the film. I checked and the information I 'pulled' on LE PLA-WHALEY is the same as your first posting. I'll see if I can get something more on the LE PLA out of my database. 3. Hi Sue: BVRI stands for 'British Vital Records Index' and in my research it seems to have older records, back to the 1500s, which are often difficult to find in FamilySearch.org - the data comes on several CDs in a case with the title Vital Records Index British Isles - I bought mine some years ago but you may find them available at your local LDS library. Good Hunting - Carol

    3. Hi all While the BVRI is now obsolete, some of the contents are on the IGI already and some via record search pilot The BVRI2 is also available on Ancestry but does not include the Scots element As Carol says the LDS FHS should have them Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) PS by coincidence I put my BVRI 1 on ebay just this week > Hi Sue: > > BVRI stands for 'British Vital Records Index' and in my research it > seems to have older records, back to the 1500s, which are often > difficult to find in FamilySearch.org - the > data comes on several CDs in a case with the title Vital Records Index > British Isles - > I bought mine some years ago but you may find them available at your > local LDS library. > > Good Hunting - > Carol

    3. As far as I am aware neither BVRI one or two work with mac computers - so if you have a mac don't waste your money on these. 3. Unfortunately Elm marriages only go up to 1838, so you need the microfilm at the LDS The BVRI is now on Ancestry as England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906 and England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940 David --- En date de : Jeu 17.9.09, SUZANNE HILL <shill7@msn.com> a écrit : > De: SUZANNE HILL <shill7@msn.com> > Objet: Re: [ENG-CAMS] Elm parish records from LDS > À: eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com > Date: Jeudi 17 Septembre 2009, 20h05 > Thanks Carol & David for > explanation on LDS British FHL microfilms! > > David, I know I should recall what BVRI stands for, but > alas I cannot pull it from my memory.  I will go ahead > and order the microfilm as I wanted to comb thru it for any > WHALEY and associated family names in Elm.  > However,  I wonder if the BVRI would show > banns/marriage of William Kitchen to Mary Ann Whaley in 1848 > and if it provides any info other than a date of > banns/marriage.  Is the BVRI searchable online? > > Thanks, > Sue >   ----- Original Message ----- >   From: Carol J Markillie<mailto:cjmarkillie@gmail.com> > >   To: eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com<mailto:eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com> > >   Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 10:25 AM >   Subject: Re: [ENG-CAMS] Elm parish records from LDS > > >   Hi Sue: > >   The description "British Film" means that it is of a > church register >   in Britain, not that the film is only there. 3. I believe it's BVRI 2 which is on Ancestry. Perhaps someone can tell us the difference between one and two? JK > Thanks for the news (to me) that the BVRI is now on Ancestry. > Appreciate your posting.
