    3. Hello, This is an update on my search for information on Richard FOXCROFT. He was a fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge and the College Librarian was very helpful, giving me lots of information from their archives, and also guided me to the University Library who hold the original of his will, which was proved in the University Court in 1609. I now have a copy of that will, but unfortunately it does not name his children. I know that he married Alice HODSON, also of Cambridge, at St Mary's in Ely in 1580. It appears that he was granted a licence for this by the Bishop of Ely. I presume that the licence was necessary because neither he nor his wife were from that parish. Please can anyone cast any light on why a licence is needed ? We presume they chose to be married there because they knew the vicar. Does anyone know where I could find a list of vicars for St Mary's, Ely? Does anyone have access to the PR for St Mary's, Ely ? Please would you check whether the marriage is shown, and let me know whether the entry gives any further information ?
