One of my French relatives from the racing world in Chantilly, where my mother grew up, has told me that Eliza Clift (daughter of the jockey Bill Clift) married one of my relations, Benjamin Charles Planner b Newmarket 1804 (trainer),d Newmarket 1888. They had 2 children William Charles Planner (a trainer in Chantilly) and Charles Planner. However, I just found a reply on the CLIFT Family Genealogy forum from December 09, 2001 from a Keith Dutton that contradicts this but his email address bounces. Does anyone know how I can contact him please? I haven't found their marriage which would have been abt 1829 or earlier. However, I would really like to find out more about Eliza's father William CLIFT who was a famous jockey who won the Epsom derby 5 times. Can anyone tell me where I might find any information on him? I have googled and really only come up with his winners and a couple of lines about him. I would like to try and find Eliza's birth too so I can verify my information.
