Hi, I'm new to this list but have been a member of the Bristol list for years, and sometimes pop into the Gloucester one! I wonder if there is anyone reading this who has researched the MURCUTT / MURCOTT families in Cambridgeshire in the 1700's? Or perhaps you know someone of this name currently living in Cambs who might have some interest in their family history? I'd like to hear from either! I have a family by the name MURCUTT living in Gloucester city during the 1700s. William Murcutt (d. 1787), his wife Sarah (nee Jefferis. d. 1802), his sisters Ann (d 1775) and Mary (died 1790). Both Ann and Mary appear to have been spinsters. As they seem to be the only MURCUTT family group in Gloucester at that time I would like to find out where they came from and the most likely places are Bethnal Green-London, Warwickshire or Cambridgeshire.
