    3. Hi Dave thanks for that. I thought it might be the case, since, although St Peter's is located within the former Holy Trinity parish, the donor of the church was a member of the Cathedral chapter attached to St Mary's parish rather than to Holy Trinity parish. I suspect that the idea was to stop the riff-raff from the Waterside baptising their babies in the Cathedral! My father was baptised at St Peter's in May 1935. It would be interesting to know what happened to the pre-1936 register. Perhaps it is still in the coal hole!
