Simon Suggest you contact Wendy Doyle at Cambs FHS. If she doesn't know where the registers are, nobody will. Alternatively, search for the BTs -----Original Message----- From: eng-cambridgeshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-cambridgeshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of eng-cambridgeshire-request@rootsweb.com Sent: 27 February 2010 08:01 To: eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com Subject: ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Digest, Vol 5, Issue 28 Today's Topics: 1. St Peter's is in Broad Street, within Holy Trinity parish. It was opened in 1889, but I believe that it had the status of a donative church rather than a chapel of ease. Being a donative means that it might have been attached to St Mary's parish rather than Holy Trinity. When I was talking to the churchwarden a few months back, he was not really sure where the parish records were - we looked through all the drawers in the vestry, but we couldn't find them. Then he though they were probably in the 'crypt' - a coal hole under the floor of the church currently used for storing junk. St Peter's was,and is, licenced for baptisms, but not for marriages. Up until 1938, when Holy Trinity and St Mary's parishes were merged, several generations of my family were baptised in St Peter's but married in the Lady Chapel of the cathedral. I'd be keen to see chapter and verse on both events. Hopefully an official of the CFHS will have more background to help you Bob Burns -----Original Message----- From: eng-cambridgeshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-cambridgeshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Simon Sent: Friday, February 26, 2010 11:43 AM To: eng-cambridgeshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-CAMS] Ely Holy Trinity and St Peter's church Can someone tell me if the CD-rom of Ely Holy Trinity 1559-1938 includes the records of St Peter's church?
