Hi list, After checking the website mentioned by Celia Perry (and a huge THANK YOU for sharing it), I have found a long lost relative. I have been looking for a death record for Joshua Whaley for a long time. The story was he had died and left 5 children to be raised by uncles. It now appears he was transported after being found guilty (in 1842) of starting a neighbor's straw pile on fire! (Such a harsh sentence!) My question is: 1. Was it normal that his family remain behind ? 2. Is there anyway I can find where he was transported to? Would it probably be Australia? Thank you for any feedback. Rebecca Nurse M 60 Nurse in Midwifery Bale, Norfolk Her husband Thompson and their daughter Elizabeth are living at their own home in Doddington. Thompson and Rebecca PRIEST are my g x 4 grandparents. They came from Walsingham in Norfolk to Doddington between 1831 and 1841. Greetings Jo, Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, I have seen this before, yet my Charlotte for certain was born in 1826, sister of Ann born 1829, so neither of the the two Charlotte(s) in the 1851 census (mother or infant) could be my Charlotte. My Charlotte would have a different surname other than HALL after marriage unless she married a HALL cousin perhaps -- maybe the husband John HALL is her cousin. However, this HALL family in 1851 census certainly could be related to my HALL family especially since the given names are repeated, so commonly practiced back then. Will keep this in my files for reference. Just re-submitting my interest in this name. JOHN and MARY THOMPSON (latter known as Polly). John born Norfolk. c1860. He was a pig dealer. His daughter, Rose, had a butcher shop. Understand all emigrated to Canada c 1910, but have lost trace of them. If Peterborough is covered by Cambridgeshire, I also have a William THOMPSON, who is said to have had an antiquu shop there c 1900. Also born Norfolk. Thankyou, Shirley (Australia)

I received this website from another county's mailing list. When I searched for 'Cambridge' many news articles came up and in one article mention was made of "Stirbitch Fair". Does anyone know if this was the former name of "Stourbridge Fair"? The website to check out is http://libraryweek.galedemo.com/history.htm. My wife's family (all 500 so far traced) are 99.99% in Cambridgeshire. But we have one line that seems to commence in Hunts. Can anyone on the list help with:- Birth/christening Jane PEPPER 1830-1832 (per various censuses) in "Huntingdon" Any info on her father (esp Marriage) Henry PEPPER If this information is in a source which I can purchase [e.g. PR fiche/CD/etc] or a publicly available website, then I would be happy to follow through myself to try and trace the whole ancestral line if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks, John Riley Normandy

Has anyone come across the marriage of Sarah Bush and James Leach Aug. 12, 1824, Boxworth. That is on the IGI and I would like to get the film no. etc. Marianne in Canada
There was a Leet/Leete family in Histon in the 1800s (I have a connection by marriage) but I don't know of a Mary Ann. A number of them are listed in the LDS Ancestral File - though I have reason to doubt some of the names and dates. You may find your Mary Ann there. Let me know if you get a connection to Philip Leet (b.1829 Histon). To add to Vivs message From the 1881 census: 3 High Street, Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Edward J FOGG Head Male 44 Ch...t..E...land, Northumberland Licensed victualer Isabella C FOGG Wife M Female 40 b Peterborough, Northamptonshire Madeline A W FOGG Daughter Female 12 b Lahore City, East Indies +3 servants Also: Ark House School, 7 Warwick Road, Neithrop, Oxfordshire, England Hubert H FLOWERS Boarder Male 15 b Banbury, Oxforshire, England Scholar Edward J FOGG Boarder 9 b Lahore, Punjab, India Scholar George W FOGG Boarder 8 b Eastfield, Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England Scholar Why do you think they married in Peterborough? I would think it was more likely to have been in Oxfordshire as the FOGGS were living in Banbury, Oxfordshire in 1881 and both Hubert H FLOWERS and his son Henry Hubert FLOWERS were born in Banbury. I wonder if Isabella and Edward FOGG married in India which is why there is no record of it in the English BMD? Paula
