    3. I am desparately seeking information on my great great grandfather. His name was Simeon Wilden (or Wilding). He was born in the parish of Suffolk between 1850-1860 approx. 3. Hi Richard.. How would 9our Bassingham fit in with Bossingham, and maybe the odd Bussingham? My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Bossingham, parents Benjamin and Mary nee Watkinson (comes up as Watkins or Wilkinson if you see only the summary index for some records). They were in the Upwell, Wisbech and Walsoken areas. Benjamin was a tailor, as was his son Benjamin - the son lived in Ruby St in the 1851 census. Gg gran migrated to Australia with (ultimately) three sisters; she and the first two sisters arrived Jan 1852. Those three all married here in Melbourne, Victoria Australia in 1852. I can fill you on on down to my generation, and give you a few pointers for a generation or so further back, if you think these match up with your family. 3. Hello John I have a peripheral interst in Norman, Apthorp and Webb throughout the 18th/19th centuries where they marry members of the WOODHAM family, particularly around Gamlingay and Arrington/Croydon. Most of them seem to have been Dissenters, and the Woodhams were certainly connected with Gamlingay Baptist chapel latterly, and before that with Barrington Congregational Chapel. If this is any help please come back to me. 3. I do see what you mean! As John Godolphin Burslem was born in India, perhaps (improbably) Theodosia was brought up there, even if she was (according to the 1901 census) born in Kensington? I'm trying to find an explanation for her apparent absence from 1871, 1881 and 1891. 3. Hello Jane from Essex This is a sort of BTW......my family came from the Coates/Eldernell villages. John and Sarah WILKINSON left there sometime between their marriage in 1865 and the birth of my grandfather 1882 who was born after arrival in Queensland. John was son of George and Mary, and Sarah was daughter of John and Elizabeth (nee Randall) ROBINSON. If you have access to 1871 census, it would be helpful to see if they are on it (i.e. John and Sarah) as that would narrow down my search for the ship they migrated on to between 1871 and 1882. Interestingly, my grandfather named his house in Brisbane "Eldernell" and this gave me the original clues as to their origins! Most grateful for any info. Hi all, I have been looking up my Saywells in Ancestry's 1901 census, and found under "relation to head of family" B.O Orphan Two on one page of the census, boarding with different families in Croxton. Alice Stocker, aged 14, born London, with Javis Saywell and family. Mary Strange, aged 6, born Islington London, with John Jarrett and family. Does anyone know anything about these orphans?? I see there are a couple in Somerset too. Val

    1. Esther ? who married Thomas Nightall 1790s..?
    2. Am trying to find out the surname of one Esther who married a Thomas Nightall in the 1790s.. We find that in 1796 they are living in Ely and they have their first child baptised in the Holy Trinity Church but I cannot find a marriage there for them.. I have searched the Ely..Holy Trinity Parish records,Littleport St.George Parish Records, Cambridge Holy Trinity Parish Records..and now have to try somewhere else as I cannot find a marriage for them anywhere.. As you are searching for your own..and see these two people..could SKS please let me know so I can order the film and see it too? I need her name to see if my ggg's birth was before she married him or after ..I am beginning to think that he was born to her somewhere else and changed his name to reflect that of her husband..but of course I have no proof..The child..William Nightall was supposed to have been born in 1797 or thereabouts....but I cannot find this baptismal record either.. Thanks all... C.Olsen..in Alaska..

    3. Hi Dorothy I found this baptism in the St Mary's Whittlesey parish records 24 Oct 1819 - Ann Kisbey - daughter of Charles & Sarah Kisbey , labourer of Eldernell, Whittlesey Part of my interest in your email is I have the Kisbey family marrying into a couple of lines in my research in the Coates, Eldernell, Eastrea, Turves & Whittlesey areas Though I've barely done any research on the name (mainly because they married into my family) I can tell you that my grandmother's aunt married a James Kisbey (b. 1866) in 1890 Whittlesey & I have a copy of the will of their daughter who died a spinster in 1984. 1. A CHAMBERS of Ashley mystery!
    2. Dear Listers, When The Times archives were available for free, I printed out a number of 'bits' of possible interest, including the following marriage which I have now transcribed: Newspaper Cutting (The Times) 16/1/1896: 'Marriages. BURSLEM: CHAMBERS. - On the 11th Jan., at St. Columba Church, Lennox-gardens, by the Rev. Donald McLEOD, D.D., John Godolphin BURSLEM, third son of the late G.J. BURSLEM, formerly Capt. 94th Regt., to Theodosia Eliza CHAMBERS, second daughter of the late Henry CHAMBERS, of Ashley, Cambridgeshire.' I am guessing that 'the late Henry CHAMBERS' referrred to was the one who was baptised at Ashley-cum-Silverley in 1828, the son of Henry CHAMBERS and Elizabeth MOORE, but I am mystified. Does anyone hear bells ringing? Yours, etc. Geoffrey Woollard in Cambridgeshire.
