Hello, This is my first message to this list. Emma TUFFS married William Bertram STOCKWOOD in 1915 in Newmarket; both died in Canada in 1954 and 1952 respectively. According to the 1901 census, Emma (b Shouldham, Norfolk)was 19, a schoolteacher, living with her parents Thomas (b Essex) & Sarah (b Warwick) in Cleveley Park. Her siblings were Elianor 22, Elizabeth 17, Fanny 14, Robert 11 and a grandaughter age 4 also called Elianor. All the children, with the exception of the grandaughter who was born in Cleveley, were born in Norfolk. There is a William age 24 also born in Shouldham, married and living with his family in Clevely Park whom I suspect may be a brother. I cannot find the family in the 1881 census. Is anyone on the list researching this family? Thank you Helen in Montreal Searching for STOCKWOOD anywhere, anytime --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I want to learn who were the parents of Rebecca NORMAN who married James CRANE in 1843 in Willingham? I am hoping that there are others who are researching CRANE & NORMAN. Perhaps they already have this figured out. Elizabeth ROYSTON BT 1794 m Thomas NORMAN in 1817 Willingham - I only found one daughter - Rebecca b1819 Sarah ROYSTON married Thomas NORMAN in 1818 (as listed on the IGI) - daughter - Rebecca b1820 I found Rebecca NORMAN born 1820, baptised 1825, daughter of Thomas NORMAN & Sarah (?ROYSTON). There were 3 Rebecca NORMANs in Willingham around the same age, - born in 1819, 1820 and another about 1823. The parents were Thomas NORMAN & Elizabeth (?ROYSTON) & Timothy & Elizabeth & Thomas & Sarah. I checked the 1841 census. I've checked the ROYSTON bible info about Rebecca Crane's age at death (1896 death at 78 years = 1818) I am feeling that Elizabeth ROYSTON is the mother but obviously there are a few Thomas NORMANs. Can anyone suggest how I might learn more about this Thomas NORMAN's parents. Rebecca (NORMAN) CRANE was in the ROYSTON bible for a different reason. This was a bible which seemed to start when Jacob ROYSTON married Emma CRANE. John ROYSTON (brother of Elizabeth & Sarah - mentioned above) b1806 married Ann LACK Their son William ROYSTON married Mary KING. Their son Jacob ROYSTON married Emma CRANE, (daughter of Rebecca NORMAN & James CRANE) Thanks for reading this, Michele Crawford Ontario, CANADA

Hi Liz Yes, I looked on their website. But the parish records are listed under " Cambridgeshire Baptism Index". I wanted to contact someone to confirm that the fiche are the actual records, not an index. Also I wanted to enquire about any records both before and after the 1801-37 period that is on line. Gail in NZ
Gail, The Baptism Index 1801-1837 is an index and not the actual records. It contains the details taken from the parish records and therefore you need to look at those records for the full information. The parish registers available are all listed on the CFHS web site with the period covered, which should answer the second part of your query. There are no further indexes on-line other than the 1801-1837 ones that cover your requirements. Hi List I have two entries on the Baptism Index 1801-37 which I found on the website of the Camb. FHS . Both indicate that there is more than the normal information on the parish records. One is John P Willson baptised in 1837 in Ely HT, and the other one Hezekiah Willson baptised 1836 in Ely HT. I would be happy to purchase the fiche or whatever to obtain the extra information, but have been unable to contact CFHS to ascertain what I need to order. Is there anyone on the list who could point me in the right direction please. Gail in NZ
Hello Gail, When you go into the website, look under Bookstall Publications for available fiche of parish records. I believe that Ely Holy Trinity transcriptions have not been completed yet, but you can check for sure and also see what other records are available. Hi list, I wonder if SKS would help me with a look-up of the 1841 census of the Wisbech St Peter area? I am looking for Barnabas Peck & family, and they appear to have bapt a daughter on 26.12.1841 in that parish, Barnabas is more usually found in Lincs. In return I would be very willing to look-up anything at Lincs Archives Office, which I visit regularly. Thanks for any assistance, Mike.
The cfhs have a useful website with details about ordering fiches. www.cfhs.org.uk Liz Gail Oliver <Gail.O@xtra.co.nz> wrote: Hi List I have two entries on the Baptism Index 1801-37 which I found on the website of the Camb. Hi there Estelle, I have not searched for this yet as I have been overseas for 7 weeks and came back on friday 15th. It could be Francis' half brother. Frank was born out of wedlock to my grandma Flora Parr. My researcher seems to think that a verdun Hodkins was Frank's father. Frank was born in Ampthill, Beds in 1916. The family was living in Burnham Overy Staithe before my grandma moved with Frank and my mum (She had a different father). It is so complicated but we have a link that needs to be proved that they are a descendant of William Parr who was Catherine Parr's brother. Catherine being the wife of Henry VIII. It woul dbe interesting to find this link. The first link in the latter part is of a Joseph Christmas Parr. Hi Syd, An excellent web site for you is Cambridgeshire Photographers 1844-1990 http://www.cambridgeshirehistory.com/MikePetty/Photographers.html Your Stearns are mentioned from 1867, but it seems that Mike can supply extra info if photographer is marked with an * and your Stearns are, so worth an e-mail to Mike.
