We will soon be visiting France/Belgium for the weekend, during our visit we intend to visit the above War Cemetery, as my husband has a Great Uncle buried there. He was in the 3rd Btn Coldstream Guards, and died in November 1914, he would have been 17. He originated from the Ely area (Witcham) and is on the War Memorial there. Though only a short visit, if anyone would like a picture of any of the graves there we will try to help. I have had much help in my family tracing, and as a novice, this is one way I can try to help back. Janice The only STIGWOOD with a Woodditton connection that I can find in the 1871/1891 censuses is Martha STIGWOOD who appears in the 1871 census. As she was a daughter from the other family in Woodditton I haven't copied her census details to you. On the 1841 census, I'm hoping that someone would be able to tell me the others in the household with Rebecca NORMAN age 21, Willingham Film HO107/70/17 Folio 15A. (In the 1851 census she is Rebecca CRANE.) Thank you, Michele Crawford Ontario, CANADA
Hi Wendy Thank you Yes Hannah married Henry first not sure when he died, & yes she went back home for the 1881 census she married James Barnes in Bloomsbury Lnd 1884, & on the 1891 census it gives my Nan Julia she was born June 1890 died 12 Jan 1963. One thing you have found & if you have the details I would be very interested in is the 1901 census of Samuel as while I had his abt birth from the 1881 census had not got anything more on the family, as I not found Hannah's birth certificate yet I been looking on the 1837online as well as FreeBMD so am not sure if it a missing record, just not been able to read it or just never registered. Thank you for all your time & trouble at least I can see if I can find more about Samuel, also what happen to Frederick Hannah & Henry's son as he was not around after the 1881 census their daughter Elizabeth seems to have taken Barnes as her name at least on the 1891 census she not at home by the 1901, well thank you once again you helped a lot Regards Janice ----- Original Message ----- From: "wendy.birt" <wendy.birt@btinternet.com> To: <ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 10:03 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-CAMB] POULTER > Hi > found a couple of things dont know if they help > HANNAH POULTER married HENRY MERKIN june q 1875 NEWMARKET henry was born > newmarket march q 1852 maybe thats where the newmarket came in > was your nan JULIA who died 12 jan 1963 > it sayes on the igi that HANNAH POULTER was born abt 1858 KIRTLING CAM to > JOHN POULTER AND JULIA JANE STIGWOOD, > i would say that emma 1901 and hannah 1891 are one and the same on the > 1881 > census Hannah is living with her parents as a widow she has siblings that > are all born KIRTLING she has a brother SAMUEL on the 1901 census there is > a > Samuel age 34 butcher and grocer born KIRTLING hope this makes sense and > helps in some way and someone finds the birth > best wishes wendy. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Janice Aitkens" <janice.aitkens1@ntlworld.com> > To: <ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, October 24, 2004 11:08 PM > Subject: [ENG-CAMB] POULTER > > >> Hello >> I was wondering if anyone could help I have a Hannah POULTER born abt >> 1858 > daughter of John Poulter Butcher, I have her on census giving Kirtling > Cambridgeshire as birth place, she married a Henry MURKIN/MERKIN then in > 1884 marrying James Barnes of Suffolk. >> I have them on the birth of my Nan in 1890 & 1891 census at 33 South > Crescent Mews Pancras London, & in 1896 at 28 South Crescent Mews on the > birth certificate of their son John. >> I have the family on the 1901 census still at 28 South Crescent Mews but > it gives Emma as a wife born Newmarket. >> I have never yet found a birth for Hannah & I have tried to see if there > is one for a Emma Poulter, so can any one help me try finding her birth > also > would I be right in thinking that Hannah & Emma are the same person just a > error in the census as I have her down as Hannah on all other documents > that > I have obtain many thanks >> Regards Janice >> >> >> ==== ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Mailing List ==== >> . >> > > > ==== ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Mailing List ==== > . > >
