Would anyone have any information about Henry William Freeman, born in 1858 in Cambridge, or his family from Cambridge - Married Agness Cole in 1878 - she was from Enfield. They lived in Enfield after they were married. The marriage certificate says his father is RICHARD Freeman, occupation: Basket Miller. Thank you for any help he is hard to find. This article from the Cambridge Chronicle was reported in the Carlisle Patriot on Friday, October 25, 1844. Carol "A CHARACTER. - An old man, residing within six miles of this town, made a curious bargain the other day for the disposal of some land of which he was the owner. Amongst other conditions, the vender stipulated that the purchaser should supply him daily with milk during the remainder of his life, and straw for his fires, that he should cart all his coals for him, that he should brew on his own premises, and send the beer to the vender's residence, and that the vender should have the liberty of walking over the land as usual, and the 'pleasure' of warning off strangers. - 'Cambridge Chronicle'."
There has been major problems with one of the Rootsweb server machines and quite a few lists have been affected, including my own "PALMER_East_Anglia" list - so don't worry. Everything is now getting back to normal - although it doesn't help that my because of the extremely wet weather we're having at the moment, my BT line has gone AWOL again :( Regards, Ann McClean in Llanmerewig, Mid-Wales, U.K. palmer@ann-mcclean.mid-wales.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List Owner PALMER-EAST-ANGLIA-UK-L@rootsweb.com For the discussion and sharing of information regarding the PALMER surname in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Huntingdonshire, South Lincolnshire, and the borders with Essex and Bedfordshire. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CAWTHORN, SCOTT, & DeSILVA PALMER Family History Pages: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cawthorn/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: Phil Goude To: ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 12:51 PM Subject: hi What has happened to all the listers emails. I am searching for the family of WILLIAM SMITH who was born at Soham between 1771 and 1780. His father was WILLIAM and he married, first Ann Fison of Fordham and then Sophia (Maria) Holland after he moved to London. His children were Sir William Smith (Lexicographer) and Rev. Philip Smith BA I would be very pleased to hear from anyone with knowledge of this family. Elizabeth Foster (N.Z.)
I have discovered the following death record in the BMD indexes - WILLIAM HENRY EDMUNDS died in 1996 age 92 in the Cambridge Registration District. There is a possibility that he may be a "missing" member of my West Sussex family Tree. I was wondering whether there is anybody on the Cambridgeshire List who has researched any Edmonds/Edmunds families locally or has come across this individual and could give me any further information about him. Very little - perhaps Christmas shopping has taken over from genealogy! Liz
Me likewise: I emailed Robyn and she kindly checked that I was still subscribed to the list. I sent off a couple of queries to the list, but have not seen them appear - today is my first ENG-CAMB mail for twelve days. Estelle >had no mail for nearly a week is this happening to anyone else >wendy.
I have received the death certificate of Samuel LINDSAY of Kingston dated 1860.A Lydia RUTTER was the informant & 'present at death'.This may indicate wife Mary ( formerlyGINN) had died by then but not necessarily). What I don't know is who is Lydia RUTTER? A Mrs or a Miss? She is on the Free BMD -she died 1874 Caxton aged 76? Is she related to the LINDSAYs? Has anybody got her in their tree? If anyone has the early census fiche, the index shows there are entries for WESTNOT in both 1786 and 1811 Trumpington. These may answer whether there was another son or if he belongs to another family group. Hopefully SKS has this info. Sheila gabby@idirect.com Old genealogists never die, they just lose their census.
Eve, I have a Frederick Robinson who married Harriet Jarman on 19 June 1835, St. Mary's Whitechapel. They had three children I know of: Frederick Henry, George, Martin. Can you make any connection to this Jarman? Rich Ward

Hi, I'm trying to build a link back from GOTOBED's in Chesterton in 1772 to Ely/Littleport (where I'm sure they originally came from). I have a William and Elizabeth GOTOBED having children christened in Chesterton from 1772 onwards, but no hint of where they came from (or the wife's maiden name). If this was their first child, I would guess they were both born around 1750-ish and married around 1770-ish - possibly all events in the same village? Does anyone have any information on possible contenders - perhaps a William on a family tree somewhere who sort of "disappeared" after getting married to an Elizabeth? I will happily purchase appropriate fiches if a likely locality can be found. John RILEY Normandy
