    3. This post caught my eye as I believe my ancestors were the only Macintoshes in Cambridge. I had some difficulty following the thread on Francis Reveley, but my gggrandfather and his siblings were born between 1823 and 1838 - wonder whether Mr. Reveley was tutor to some of them ! That's Ruth's father. He was from Crosby Ravensworth, Westmorland, a poor kid on scholarship to Cambridge. His wife, Mary Roots, died in 1836. Something tell me all the kids got shipped off to private schools. The Roots were wealthy, and when Mary died her money allowed her surviving children, and husband, to be financially secure. The children were born in the following years, based on a letter from Frank to his sister: George Reveley (1824) Samuel John Reveley (1826) Ruth Reveley nee Smyth (1828) Elizabeth Reveley (1832) Hmmm...I have George the father born in 1792. ?? Mary was from Chatham, I don't know anything about her family, either. Nope, I'm not a direct descendant, no hidden treasures for me. :( I'm just the genealogy addict in the bunch. xxx Sarah

    3. Hi Sarah I cannot trace Ruth in either 1841 or 1851 in Cambs, but there is a Francis Reveley age 40 at St Johns St Cambridge, independent, not born in Cambs, in the same house as the Macintosh family, a tutor. There is no sign of Francis' family. 3. I am researching the Rignall's of Hull and have ended up in Cambridgeshire in the early 1800s. A number of Rignall's from this area moved to Hull in c1860 and I am interested in finding a connection between them. I am particularly interested in finding the parents and siblings of James Rignall who married Eleanor Marshall in Long Sutton on 12 March 1827. Could somebody also lookup the following family details in the 1841 and 1851 Census and later if possible. 3. At the risk of being a pain, I am still looking for information on my William WILLSON. I have found an entry in a 1862 directory for "William WILLSON, Linen & woollen draper, Crown Street, St. Ives". As clutching at straws is becoming an habitual pastime , I wondered if anyone was able to check the 1861 census for this person. I am aware that St. Ives was Huntingdonshire at that time, but I know a lot of the records for there is held in Cambridgeshire now. Here's hoping Gail in NZ

    3. Hi Carroline The family appears with more than 6 children in the 1851 census transcription for Brinkley (HO 107/1762 f.7B. That household contains Thomas Howard, aged 45, a blacksmith and farmer employing 5 men, born in Brinkley; his 43-year-old wife, Elizabeth, born in Burrough Green; and the following children, all born in Brinkley - Eliza (22), Thomas (18), John (16), Emily (14). Lucy (12), Sarah (10), Richard (8), Maria (6), William (4), George (2). The household also includes Thomas and Elizabeth's granddaughter, Hannah Howard aged 7 born in Brinkley. A search on the IGI (www.familysearch.org), gives a marriage of Thomas Howard and Elizabeth Baldwin on 29 November 1827 in Brinkley. There's a baptism for Elizabeth Baldwin in Burrough Green on 12 Dec 1808 (born 2 Dec), daughter of Joseph and Lucy. The Cambridgeshire Baptism Index has no Thomas Howard baptism for Brinkley. According to the IGI there was a Thomas Howard baptised in nearby Balsham in 1806, but he was buried in 1807. Hope this helps, Ruth On Tue, 30 Nov 2004 18:29:41 -0000, carroline <carroline@ntlworld.com> wrote: > > > > Hi, I am new to this list and I'm hoping to find the parents of Thomas and > > Elizabeth HOWARD bn early 1800's,they were living in Brinkley with their > six > > children ( Emily, thomas, John, Frederick, Maryan and Eliza. 2. In a message dated 30/11/2004 19:04:22 GMT Standard Time, historyscape@gmail.com writes: The Cambridgeshire Baptism Index has no Thomas Howard baptism for Brinkley. Dear Ruth and Carroline, I am very annoyed with myself because I have who I think is the 'right' Thomas HOWARD for you, i.e. baptised at Brinkley 30th March 1806, son of Richard HOWARD and Mary (nee CHALLIS), BUT I haven't recorded where I got the information from! However, at the time I put this family on my database (for another reason!), I was visiting the C.R.O. on a regular basis, so I think the record is probably O.K.!
