Further to Sal's reply, I can add that the staff there are very helpful and for a very small charge will photocopy articles and send the photocopies out to you. If anyone can help regarding Fordham, can I also please attach a lookup request? I'm interested in any mention of the birth/baptism of Matthew GUNTON about 1795. That's all I know, other than he married about 1815, to Sarah, but that was probably in Fen Ditton (where she was born). Their first child was born in Fen Ditton in 1816. Hello Tony, CFHS has transcribed Fordham PR's only to 1852, and there is no marriage listed up to that year. William ARNOLD was baptised 24 Apr 1836 son of Joseph & Margaret. There are no baptisms for a Susan in 1835, but there are two in 1834: 18 Mar 1834 Susan READER dau of George & Lydia 6 Apr 1834 Susan COLLIS dau of Henry & Susan There are also two listed in 1835, but they were baptised later than William. I was up at the Society of Genealogists yesterday and they were saying that they think all the tickets MAY have been sold out for Saturday (?) - so Sunday or Monday may be a better bet and save you a wasted trip ! I also think that advance ticket sales have now ceased (?) so you may have to depend on what you can get on the door ? They have had this crazy policy for advance tickets that if you took up their "Special Offer of 2 tickets for the price of one" that BOTH tickets had to be for the same day !! - I wanted 2 tickets (but one each for Sunday and Monday so that I could spread out my attendance and not put too much strain on my ancient knees and ankles) - but that was totally impossible (!!) according to their rules, so I have ended up with TWO tickets for Sunday ! - and I have nobody else who can use the 2nd ticket ! SO if anybody wants a ticket for Sunday (at a discounted price !) let me know and we can arrange to meet outside Olympia on the Sunday morning and do the deal ? - it is open from 1000 - 1800 on the Sunday & as I only live in S.W. London I could be there at 1000 (or very soon after) wearing some sort of identification ? Please contact me by email in a 'Reply' to this (or phone me on 020-8390-2907) and we can fix the details. I hope this helps somebody ! I looked on the 1841 census at Findmypast and could find only 2 Rebecca Rippingale/Rippengale and no similar variation, one aged 34 in Chelmsford, the other 25 in Spalding; both FS for Female servant. Could she have traveleld with him? Wisbech is a harbour and they could have been in the coastal trade. Hi Julia - have you got any more information? eg whereabouts in Cambridgeshire? Very little information is given on the 1841 census - just age (to the nearest 5) and whether the person was born in the county or not. A search for the name variations on their own didn't turn up anything on Ancestry.
