Dear Listers! I have a WILLIAM BECKETT of BUCKINGHAM, born about 1795. He married ELIZABETH JAMES (b 1800, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire) in 1819 in Stanway, Gloucestershire. They had three children, one of whom died aged one year in 1825; Elizabeth died at about the same time. WILLIAM BECKETT married for a second time to Elizabeth's sister, CHARLOTTE JAMES (b 1805, Chipping Campden) in 1826 in Worcester. They had three children only one of whom survived their early years. Charlotte died in 1831in Stratford on Avon. WILLIAM BECKETT married a third time to ELIZA HIRON(S) (b 1809, Chipping Campden) between 1831 and 1833. The family lived in Stratford on Avon where they had a further fifteen children. WILLIAM BECKETT was a chimney sweeper as were many of his sons and grandsons. The last chimney sweeping Beckett retired in Stratford on Avon in 1963. I have the following stumbling blocks ; 1. Exactly when in Buckingham was WILLIAM BECKETT born and who were his parents? (There is a suitable IGI reference for a WILLIAM BECKETT born in 1795 in Long Crendon but that is about ten miles from Buckingham). 2. Exactly where and when did WILLIAM BECKETT marry ELIZA HIRON(S).
