Sorry Pete can't see a connection as far as I know they came from Buckland near Trigg Jeanne Peter & Joyce Smith <[email protected]> wrote: > > I have this entry from the 1871 > > Civil parish: Great Missenden > Town: Lee Common > County/Island: Buckinghamshire > Country: England > Source information: RG10/1392 > Registration district: Amersham > Sub-registration district: Missenden > ED, institution, or vessel: 4 > Folio: 50 > Page: 20 > Household schedule number: 100 > Address:56 Lee Common > Esther Terry 10 Lee, Buck Daughter GT Missenden Buckinghamshire > Hannah Terry 20 Lee, Buck Daughter Gt Missenden Buckinghamshire > Occ:Straw Plaiter > Jesse Terry 12 Lee, Buck Son Gt Missenden Buckinghamshire > Phebe Terry 40 Lee, Buck Wife Gt Missenden Buckinghamshire > Sarah Terry 17 Lee, Buck Daughter Gt Missenden Buckinghamshire > Occ:Straw Plaiter > William Terry 47 Aston Clinton, Bucks Head Gt Missenden > Buckinghamshire Occ:Ag Lab > > Esther went on to become my GGrandmother when she married Henry WEEDON. > > Do these connect with you at all. > > If so perhaps we could exchange info > > Pete > > -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Irving [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: 25 January 2005 18:45 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [ENG-BUCK] Buckland - John Terry in 1871 > > The 1871 census shows John TERRY, Hurdle Maker age 16 (but I'm not sure > that's been transcribed right - there's an enumerators mark right > through it, very hard to make out - could be 14) b Buckland Common BKM, > living with his sister Mary TERRY, 21, Straw Plaiter, head, b Buckland > Common BKM, in Tring, Herts (a short walk from Buckland) & her sons > William, 3, & George, 2 months. > > I found what's probably the same Mary in Buckland in 1851 - > > William TERRY 25 Carpenter b Buckland BKM > Mary wife 25 Straw Plaiter b Astrop Herts > Elizabeth dau 8 Scholar b Tring > Fredrick son 4 b Buckland > Mary dau 2 do > > There are others who may be related. > > Paul > J POTTER wrote: > > >Many thanks Paul will get on to it.Knowing my luck they will have moved > to another county grin. > > > > > >>From: J POTTER > >>Date: 2005/01/25 Tue PM 12:11:02 GMT > >>To: [email protected] > >>Subject: Re: [ENG-BUCK] Buckland > >> > >>Sorry forgot to sign and spelling gone to pot this morning > >>Jeanne > >> > >>J POTTER wrote: > >>Hi I have recently joined this list. Jeanne, Hasty, hasty! Consider these points: 1) Aston Clinton & Buckland are immediately adjacent to each other. See www.streetmap.co.uk 2) The person giving the information in a census is not necessarily fully informed about all the details of everyone in the household. I've seen mistakes which are only explicable by the informants ignorance. A husband or wife may be uncertain whether their spouse was from Buckland or Aston Clinton, especially after over 20 years living elsewhere. 3) William TERRY of Lee Common, The Lee, was described as aged 37, Ag Lab b Buckland in the 1851 census. Wife Pheby, 21 b Lee. Children Joseph Jesse 2 b Wendover & Hannah Maria 5m b Lee. I wouldn't be surprised if all the Terrys & Terreys of Buckland, Aston Clinton, & probably other nearby villages (Wendover, Cholesbury, St. Leonards & over the border in Hertfordshire), were related.
