    3. FreeBMD has a page as follows: Marriages Mar 1868 Cheshire Clara Ann Kensington 1a 81 Couling Elizabeth Kensington 1a 81 ROWE Thomas Kensington 1a 81 Smith Thomas William Kensington 1a 81 Wells Ann Eliza Kensington 1a 81 No, we do not know for sure which individual goes with which, but it seems possible this could be a place to start - with her last name being Cheshire. You could send for the certificate to be sure. Happy hunting! I'm tryng to identify the surname of Clara Ann, b 1845. She married a THOMAS WILLIAM SMITH of Harrow (date unknown, wonder if this took place in Whitchurch also), and had her first child, Clara Matilda Smith, in Westminster 1869. Because of the dates, the first census I can access (1871) already has Clara Ann married, so I'd be very grateful if anyone is able to help? 3. And there's a Clara CHESHIRE in Whitchurch in 1851 - Oving Road, Witchurch William BRAZIER 31 b Whitchurch BKM Ag Lab Mary wife 31 do Lacemaker Betsy dau 11 do John son 1 do Clara CHESHIRE dau 11 do I'd look for a Mr. Cheshire dying sometime between 1840 & 1849, & his widow marrying William Brazier. I've noticed that step-children often retained their original surnames, & even when they appeared in censuse under a stepfathers name often reverted to the original after his death, or when old enough to decide for themselves.
