I am knocking my head around trying to find the following BMD's Alfred William Bland b. abt 1845 Chearsley Bucks appears suddenly in 1881 with wife Selina/Salina (surname?) b. abt 1854 Brill, Bucks. but living now in Headington Oxon. where they had several children. They show quite stable in the subsequent 1891 and 1901 Census and I have found baptism records for all children except: Alfred Thomas b 1883 Headington and died 1883 Wallingford Oxon possibly a Tracy b abt 1890? I can find no marriage for the Alfred and Selina in the FreeBMD, therefore have no idea who the parents on either side might be. The only clue is a mother in law on the 1891 Census living with the family called Susan b abt 1805 Middleton? Oxon. There are ditto marks by her name indicating she is Bland. But that could be an error. Either they share the same last name or it is really Alfred's mother or step mother. Any and all info from parish records would be appreciated for the above as well as collateral family members if found/known. HELP!! Thanks in advance! Robin H PS Alfred Bland b 1854 is shown consistently to be Alfred in Census and most Christening records. He is called Alfred William in his daughter Agnes Mary's marriage in 1900. There is a reference to Selina in one baptism record that calls her Eliza (father of child is still Alfred) although this could be a different couple.

Can't see any candidates for either Selina or Alfred in the 1851, 1861 or 1871 censuses, which is odd. One thing you could do is get a birth certificate for one of the children, which would give Selinas maiden name. That might help. It would give another angle to find the marriage from.
