Dear all I wonder if anyone could help with two marriages that I have been stuck on for many years? My g.g.grandparents are Richard SEYMOUR b1834 Langley Marish, and Caroline ???? b1837? (consistently on several census) Their first (known) child was Richard b1861 Langley I have to date been unable to find their marriage and therefore Carolinas maiden name. The second marriage is for Richards (b1834) parents John SEYMOUR b1802 Upton cum Chalvey, his wife was Elizabeth ?? b1802 Windsor (from census) Their first (known) child was John b1826 Langley I have tried the GRO for the first marriage and am unable to locate it, obviously the 2nd marriage would be before civil registration and again have been unable to find it it PRs. Dear all I have been reminded that Carolines maiden name would be shown on Richards birth certificate. It has been some years since I researched this side of my family, whilst looking through my notes for something totally unrelated, I saw that I had not found these two marriages, so posted my request, perhaps without thinking it through? When last I researched this side of the family there was no freebmd, Ancestry, census on CD etc etc. Also at that time I had not the funds for any other form of research, including certs.Even the GRO was out of reach as I had not the time to spare. So birth registration ref found for Richard on freebmd, certificate ordered online via ONS. A far cry from the old days, eh? Mind you still no sign of the marriages yet, at least Carolines maiden name may be a step forward though?
