    3. I don't intend to make a habit of aimless postings like this, but some things can't be resisted. While checking out a suspiciously old (for the 1760s) bride, I found she was, as I suspected, a widow, sister-in-law of the Ann HUSSEY who the IGI says married my ancestor Henry BROWN. So I started looking for half-siblings of hers & Henrys children, & found - Mahershalalhashbaz HUSSEY, born 2-Mar-1761 in Aylesbury, son of Thomas (a miller) & Ann ( nee HARDING, later BROWN). Has anyone found a more exotic name? Paul

    3. Hi Paul I get the Family Tree magazine and there has been an ongoing discussion in it recently regards the name Mahershallalhashbaz. Apparently it is the longest name in the bible and broken down into its four components of Maher-shallal-ash-baz means 'haste, spoil, speed and prey. They also highlighted other biblical names such as Mehetabel and Onesiphorous (meaning bringing again). It appears that ours is not the only generation with a penchant for unusual names for our children, except ours are probably easier to pronounce! Regards Sue King

    3. Hi Paul, I'm a bit late with this one and it's not terribly exotic but I have the following name from the 1871 census transcription of Ancestry: - phellasulphia (Unknown) Cevtes The second name should be Curtis but as far as the first one goes I haven't a clue! Wondered about Phyllis Sophia but I've just now checked again and to me it looks like it might be - Phelladulfahia ..... perhaps Philadelphia? If anyone has a clue to what this name should be (haven't found it on FreeBMD yet) I'd be happy to hear it. I rather do like Mahershalalhashbaz though! Thanks, Margaret ....
