Doesn't his marriage certificate tell you his father's name? Looks like he married Eton Registration District December Quarter 1848. Upton Cum Chalvey is in Eton Registration District. Have you gone through the PRs (not the IGI) for all churches in High Wycombe for his baptism? Perhaps try the Bucks FHS baptisms search service to see if he is on their database. It's very reasonably priced. In 1841 he may have been apprenticed and not with his family. HTIOH D.
