Paul -----Original Message----- From: mayndave [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 24 July 2004 10:29 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [ENG-BUCK] NAPPIN(G) Hello Paul and Barbara, Thank you both very much for your replies, I really appreciate your time in looking for me. I think the Elisha NAPPING in the 1851 Census at Brill could well be brother to my James - they are approximately 1 year different in ages. I guess it's possible that William NAPPON, age 58, could be his father; or that Mary NAPPON, widow, age 46, could be his mother. The marriage of John NAPPINS in 1792 from Thame looks very promising for his Grandfather, so I have added that to my notes file in readiness for some 'joining information' on John's father. I have searched the FreeBMD many times and come up with *very* few results on NAPPIN, none of them likely, I'm afraid. I think 'my' fiche must be with someone who didn't like transcribing after all, which I can understand. (My husband has done about 17,000 records but it wasn't my scene.) I have also been to our city library to look at the UK birth microfiche for 1840 +/- 5 years. Either I've missed him, or he was born under a cabbage and no-one wants to admit it. When the OFHS Baptism Index is further along I'll ask on the Oxford List if there could be a record for him there. Many thanks again to you both, May -----Original Message----- From: Paul Irving [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, 24 July 2004 8:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [ENG-BUCK] NAPPIN(G) John NAPPINS x of Abingdon married Ann ELMS or ELAMS x 25 Sep 1792 at Thame. His father's name was James. I know these things from John's marriage certificate to Mary Ann BIRD in 1863 in Turville. She was born in Stokenchurch but they were both of North End when they married. Yet, despite my searches in everything I can lay my hands on (from this distance) I can find no further trace of the NAPPIN(G) line. I have tried adding a K to the front and making the P in the middle singular, all with and without the G on the end. Please has anyone come across any trace of this family at all? I would be most grateful if anyone can spare some time to look in your available resources. 3. Hi Paul, Thank you for this extra information, I do appreciate it very much and have printed it out to compare to what I already have on John. I have also been fortunate enough to hear back from another Lister who has my John in the 1841 Census, so once she sends me all those details I should have a fuller picture to build on. Yes, NAPPIN is a very uncommon name isn't it? Very many thanks for all your help and your time, May -----Original Message----- From: Paul Irving [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, 24 July 2004 10:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [ENG-BUCK] NAPPIN(G) I dug out my OFHS CD of Thame parish registers.
