I'm about to order the 51 census from Bucks FHS but being possessed of an impatient nature and wanting an answer today rather than next week, LOL, I wonder if sks could look up William KITCHENER born c1773 for me and also give me any details of his wife that are on there. If possible, I'd also like to know the exact date the census was taken. TIA Jane Savile (nee Kitchener), Suffolk, UK
Hi Jane In my search of the 1851 CD, I only found one W KITCHENER, and this was it: Olney Pt 3 1723 632 0043 High Steet East Thomas DENTON HD M 35 M Ag Lab Emberton BKM Deborah DENTON WI 34 F Dressmaker Olney BKM Maria DENTON DA 10 F Scholar Olney BKM William KITCHENER RE M 78 M Chelsea Pensioner Olney BKM Fanny KITCHENER WI 73 F Lacemaker Olney BKM Is this he? If not, I'll search again, sometimes my CD doesn't work quite as it should. I think it's getting tired! The date of the 1851 census was 30/31st March. And incidentally, if you are one by blood, watch out for adverse effects from injections. In the 1890s, two Kitchener brothers were summoned repeatedly for not having their babies innocupated for ssmallpox, according to the law. They stated reasonably that they had had one doen each and the first became very ill, the second had her life despaired of, so they were not risking the rest. The magistrate was sympathetic, and saw their point, but gined them just the same. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society
