Dear All Thank you all so much your help in looking for John MURRY'S census records. How disappointing that he couldn't be found though. In answer to your queries, I got this birthplace from his death certificate which was included in the Land Selection Filesfor him and his wife from the Queensland State Archives. In this file, I found an application by his wife Mary Ann MURRY to take over the lease of the land upon his death which included the marriage date of 21/7/1850 London. However I haven't had time to confirm that date yet or get the details to order the marriage certificate. Queensland Death certificates are great in that they can hold a wealth of information but are only as accurate as information given by the next of kin (besides the main facts of death date, place and medical info) . Strange that his wife states that he was born in Buckinghamshire if he wasn't. She lived until 1911 so I wouldn't think dementia but perhaps she was unsure or perhaps he lived there when he met her!. The QLD death index doesn't give her father's name so her death certificate will unlikely hold any more details for her so I need to find the census record for her to go further back. The QLD Death index for 1877 for John MURRY states that his parents are Edward MURRY and Maria BUTLER. I haven't yet had a chance to follow through with immigration records as I only found out last Saturday that they were married in England and most likely would have come to Australia together. Thanks again. Look forward to any other information that you may come across. If anyone needs any help for Queensland, Australia records please ask.
