Dear all I have been reminded that Carolines maiden name would be shown on Richards birth certificate. It has been some years since I researched this side of my family, whilst looking through my notes for something totally unrelated, I saw that I had not found these two marriages, so posted my request, perhaps without thinking it through? When last I researched this side of the family there was no freebmd, Ancestry, census on CD etc etc. Also at that time I had not the funds for any other form of research, including certs.Even the GRO was out of reach as I had not the time to spare. So birth registration ref found for Richard on freebmd, certificate ordered online via ONS. A far cry from the old days, eh? Mind you still no sign of the marriages yet, at least Carolines maiden name may be a step forward though? I wonder if anyone has access to a street directory for Newprt Pagnell. I am looking for Douglas Procter who was married in Leicester in 1926 but came from Newport Pagnell. After the marriage he seems to have disappeared and I am hoping he went back there. If he didn`t then I am not sure where else to look. I would appreciate any help. Andy

Wendy Thanks for the answer. It is not a problem, but as I have set my Outlook Express to sort incoming e-mails, I was surprised to find some falling outside the parameters. Now I shall adjust my settings to get both. Dear all I wonder if anyone could help with two marriages that I have been stuck on for many years? My g.g.grandparents are Richard SEYMOUR b1834 Langley Marish, and Caroline ???? b1837? (consistently on several census) Their first (known) child was Richard b1861 Langley I have to date been unable to find their marriage and therefore Carolinas maiden name. The second marriage is for Richards (b1834) parents John SEYMOUR b1802 Upton cum Chalvey, his wife was Elizabeth ?? b1802 Windsor (from census) Their first (known) child was John b1826 Langley I have tried the GRO for the first marriage and am unable to locate it, obviously the 2nd marriage would be before civil registration and again have been unable to find it it PRs. Perhaps they never married? Any help very much appreciated Best wishes Nivard Ovington Cornwall (UK) PS I have 1851 Bucks, 1881 Lds, 1891 Ancestry
Greg Thanks for the news. Do you have any idea why I would be on 2 of the 3 Bucks lists? Should I be on the 3rd one also? What is the differences between them, and what dictates which ones I am "on"? Hello Michael - You asked: > I am getting some e-mail which shows the subject line as [ENG-BKM], and others which show [ENG-BUCK]. If we are all using the same system why is this occuring? I would have thought that there would be consistency, and am very worried about "other" things arriving. I'm sorry, but the answer given by Greg is incorrect - unusual for Greg though that is! I think I'm probably the best person to know :-) There are actually 3 open lists for Buckinghamshire. The first to be formed was [email protected] . The list is jointly administered by Judith Young & Dave Carlsen. Posts to that list have the prefix [BKM] The second to be formed was this one, [email protected] . As Greg hinted, its formation related to personalities on the first list. That is now in the past of both lists. That list has the prefix [ENG-BUCK]. The third open list is on a different mailing list system, not RootsWeb, and has the prefix [ENG-BKM] I am list admin of the latter two lists, and it is these two to which you refer - and, having checked, you are indeed subscribed to both of them. Many subscribers are on more than one of the lists. If you would like help with your subscription status, you're welcome to contact me off-list. Wendy List admin [email protected]
Michael, At some stage you went to http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/BUCKS.html and http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-BUCKINGHAMSHIRE.html and sent an e-mail to subscribe to them both - you must have done this because no-one can do it for you. The ENG-BUCKHAMSHIRE list is a breakaway from the BUCKS list and it's more to do with personalities that anything else, many people belong to both and the subject matter overlaps considerably. The third list only applies if you belong to the BFHS (Bucks Family History Society), and if you belong to this august society you will already have details about joining it - again many people belong to two or three lists and there is considerable overlap. I hope this helps your understanding, Greg ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael & Faye Brock" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 23, 2004 11:54 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-BUCK] SECURITY > Greg > > Thanks for the news. I am getting some e-mail which shows the subject line as [ENG-BKM], and others which show [ENG-BUCK]. If we are all using the same system why is this occuring? I would have thought that there would be consistency, and am very worried about "other" things arriving. Michael Brock Mem B576
Michael, It's because you belong to two out of the three Bucks lists! Hello list, was wondering if SKS with the 1861 Census for Aylesbury wood mind seeing if Samuel Gates is alive, he died in Aylesbury in 1867, he would of been in his late 60's, thank you, Iris
Part of the fun of genealogy is making contact with others researching the same name as yourself - related, maybe, even! It can also be helpful to swap notes - maybe filling in gaps for each other. Each county has a surname interest list - that for Bucks is at http://webpages.charter.net/dcarlsen/genuki/BKM/bucksurname.html Can I encourage everyone to enter their interests. Some people are cautious about adding their email addresses to sites because of the risk of their being harvested. Dave Carlsen, the author of this excellent site, has set it up such that you only access submitters' email addresses after carrying out a specific search. A little more about searching. You can search for a name, in a particular area if you wish. You don't need to put in too much detail - in fact you can just put in the first few letters of a surname - so putting in AY will bring up those researching AYERS and AYRES Enjoy - and help build it up! -- Wendy List Admin [email protected]
I would like to exchange information with anyone interested in the WILLET or WILLYATT family who lived in and around Little Horwood and Great Horwood in the 15th and 16th centuries. I have already collected quite a bit of information about them from the Great Horwood records (mostly the manor court rolls and probate records), but they seem to have moved back and forth between Great and Little Horwood and I am hoping that someone else will have collected similar information from Little Horwood. In particular I am hoping to find someone who has notes of the 5 wills and 3 inventories at Herts RO, dating from 1513, 1549, 1555, 1557 and 1559, relating to Williats of Little Horwood and Winslow - but any other information from the 15th or 16th centuries would be very useful. In return I'd be happy to supply all the information I have collected from the Great Horwood records. Regards, Matt Tompkins Blaston, Leics
