    3. Hi Mark, Thanks very much for your kind offer. to the Bucks list. I hope you're not too overwhelmed with requests. My interest is COLEMAN. Specifically my Grandfather Alfred who I believe was born in 1885. His father was John COLEMAN a Licensed Victualler. His mothers name was Annie. This is the only information I have (from his marriage certificate) I don't have an address but I assume they may have been living in a Public House. If you come across these people in your 1891 census I'd be very pleased to hear about it. Thanks again Wendy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Ware" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 25, 2004 5:01 AM Subject: [ENG-BUCK] Look-ups Available > I currently have access to the Bucks 1851 & 1891 census and am willing > to do look-ups for anybody that may need them. > > Many thanks > Mark > > > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. 1. Re: 1891 Lookup for Wycombe
    2. Hi Mark, Thanks for offering to do look up's. I am trying to piece together the whereabouts of my Gt. Grandfather in the 1891 census. He is William Churchill WATERS and he married a Sarah Ellen WHEELER in Wycombe in 1880. I have them living in Ealing, London in 1881 and their son, my grandfather, was found in the 1891 census in Bermondsey as a 2 year old 'boarder' I was wondering if you could look up William or Sarah Ellen possibly living in Totteridge Rd, Wycombe. They may have 3 other children with them, Arthur Waters aged 9, Edith M Waters aged 8, and Lucy Waters aged 6. Sarah Ellen died in 1901 and the children were living with Sarah's mother (Sarah WHEELER) so this may be another clue. Any help with these names would be most appreciated. Many Thanks Chris St. Ives, Cambs

But at least you've found it from other sources. That's happened to me, as well - tangential information which tells me what I want to know, such as a brother-in-law visiting whose presence gives away the wifes maiden name, when I was having difficulty finding the marriage record because of wildly variable spelling of the husbands name (would you believe Haraway for Irving?) 3. Hi Paul Thanks very much doing the 1851 census lookup, I do have this information already, but very kind of you all the same. I really wanted the 1861 stuff as I thought it would be most helpful, however, this weekend I have been organising, sorting and filing all my gathered notes and info when, lo and behold, I found Ann! I had some 1881 stuff for Todd's of Hardwick when I noticed one who was staying with an aunt and uncle in Leics. The aunt's name was Ann Woodcock with the right age, born in Hardwick. From there I found the marriage index for Ann Todd and Charles Woodcock on Freebmd, mystery solved. Thanks again for taking time out to help, Sue

    3. Hi Mark Any help you can give me with the Barnes family in Wycombe for these census years would be highly appreciated. Also advice (from anyone reading this) on how to sort out my problem of Edwin Barnes. I have had help from two members on finding young Edwin who is mentioned in 1881 and 1901as having been born in Great Marlow in 1841. I have his marriage certificate to Ellen Bristow in 1861 in which Edwin's father is named as Richard Barnes (Gardener). I applied for the birth certificate of the only Edwin Barnes born in 1841 (birthplace Keynsham) but it turns out HIS father is William. The only film of parish records available of about that time finished short of 1841 and I havent been able to find another film that would include that year. It has been suggested to me that perhaps William & Charlotte died and Edwin went to live with Uncle Richard and called him Father. (I have Edwin's Death Certificate in 1917 at age 76 so 1841 does definitely appear to be the birthdate.) Any advice would be appreciated. There are also 5 named female Barnes deaths on FreeBMD, plus one "female", which is probably a newborn, not yet named. There's a matching birth with no name. It looks as if the boys lost their parents between 1841 & 1851, & their father was probably one of the Richards. I think what you need is to find them in the 1841 census. Now you know the older brothers, it should be possible to identify the family. Paul

    3. My apologise if the message below appears twice on the list, but at the time of sending this, the original email still had not appeared (sent quite a few hours earlier). Before people get too enthusiastic re. doing this type of look-up - IF the source of the data is from CDs then you need to read the license agreement that is associated with the CD and software, and which anyone installing has agreed legally to abide by. They almost exclusively give the user rights of use for Personal purposes ONLY, and so offering to do 'free' look-ups as a service would be in breach of this. I don't think generally the publishers mind people doing occasional look-ups when enquiries are posted - but advertising doing it as a service is potentially a different thing.
