Hello, I'm just new to the list and am trying to find a marriage date for a James JAKES / JAQUES and a Mary Ann Edwards. James came from Biggleswade, Bedfordshire and Mary Ann from Feltwell, Norfolk. They married sometime in 1851 or 1852. They are found in Barking, Essex on all the censuses after 1851. I have had no luck in finding a marriage record for them. Hi Listers My 3rd gt grandfather James Sturch was born in Denton Bucks abt 1794 and he married Ann Allen in Gt Haseley Oxfordshire in1821. I'm back on this branch of the family after exhausting it in the Oxfordshire records office. Is there anyone else researching this family or who could help with a look up in Parish records. Thanks in anticipation Sue Rhondda Valley Wales
Hi List, I am back on line with anew e-mail address still looking for all Pinckards and variants. As we seem to have originated from South Northants from at least the early 1300s, migration South down Watling Street seems to have taken place. any info would be greatly appreciated Derek
Bucks list: I have Ann PRICE, d/o Samuel (& Ann?) born abt 1809 in Gt. Marlow married to James MARTIN, born abt 1804 in Great Marlow They had 4 sons John b. abt 1835 (with parents in both 1841 & 1851 census) Wm born abt 1837 (with parents in 1841 but not 1851) Samuel born in June 1/4 of 1840 (both 1841 & 1851) Charles born 5 April 1843 Charles married Elizabeth [maiden name unknown] who was born in Berkshire - at some point before 1865 they settled in Berkshire where they stayed. In the 1851 census, Saml PRICE was a widower living with James & Annie MARTIN, relationship given as father-in-law, so I am fairly certain that Saml is Ann's father. In the 1841 census there is a Saml & Ann PRICE in Well End, Great Marlow. Ann's age is a bit young, but that might be because of the rounding of ages in that census, or perhaps she is a 2nd wife? There are numerous Prices & Martins in the Great Marlow area. Before I continue trying to figure them all out, I would like to know if anyone was researching these families. I have all the names of the Prices & Martins in Great Marlow in 1841 and 1851 censuses. Thanks Mary
Is anyone researching the BARTON family in Eton & Windsor in the 1800s, cabinet makers, solicitors, auctioneers, and a teacher? They probably originated from Aylesbury. Peter.
Hi Paul, This area of Bucks don't appear to have loaded yet, there appears to be an index page for families of this area, but the actual records are not available at the moment. If you would like a copy of the Index page, gives names and ages, just not the address or occupation, will be happy to help Sheila South Australia -----Original Message----- From: Paul Irving [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, 15 November 2004 8:23 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ENG-BUCK] Upton cum chalvey census [email protected] wrote: > Has anyone any idea how I find this census, as I too have several >relatives >from that area. Does anyone know if transcriptions exist for Marlow church? Richard Hawkins was buried there in January 1843 and I'm trying to find his place of birth or the names of his parents. Between 1827 and 1843 he lived in Marlow, Medmenham and Henley but I've never found a baptism for him or any evidence as to who his parents were. thanks Helen

There's a list on it of all the transcriptions they currently have available. They sell files where the parish is fully transcribed up to 1901, & sell searches of the rest. The Eureka Partnership has transcribed the Great Marlow baptisms, but only up to 1812. Last I heard they were working on the burials, & should have finished them by now. Has anyone any idea how I find this census, as I too have several relatives from that area. Anna
Hi Karen, Oh. Please don't be ashamed of your forebear! I too had one in Aylesbury Gaol. His offence was stealing money (3rd offence), and while I was shocked I just know how beautiful the following generations have been. We can only imagine the desperate, hungry times that they lived in then, and what circumstances may have led to their offences. I can picture your Samuel needing the ass to carry his wares door to door. It was probably old and in a sorry state, but all he could afford, when he bought it. And his family depend for their lives on him making his rounds and making his sales, while he tries in vain to get the poor animal to continue. I don't know what cruelty amounted to in those days - whether it had to be awful or not. And believe me, I love animals to the point of the ridiculous - 2 dogs and 1 cat share my husband's and my bed at night! But please be gentle with your Samuel and love him anyway. Know that he was doing the best he could in hard times! All the very best to you, May Lanchbury Perth, Western Australia -----Original Message----- From: Karen Cook [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, 14 November 2004 1:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ENG-BUCK] 1871 census Upton with Chalvey - WESTON Hi Beverley Thank you so much for this information.
