I recently watched the BBC production "North & South" and found it really interesting and well done. I think I might almost anything with Richard Armitage in it! My question is, for those who know, how realistic do you think the living conditions portrayed were for factory laborers in the 19th century? The people I'm researching worked in the coal and iron industries in the West Bromwich area in the mid to late 19th century. Should I assume that their living conditions were similar to those of the workers in "North & South"? Thanks. Brenda
