Hi list Does anyone know please if Gamekeepers were self employed (like journeymen) or always worked for "the big house" or more likely to be up market names for poachers ? I am tracking the" Game Keeper " Henry Parker who lived at Little Huncote, Thurlaston in 1881 and am curious about the occupation. Apart from my mother hiding "Lady Chatterleys Lover" in her knitting bag, I have not encountered them before !! Clues appreciated Thanks Jilly
