    3. I have a ggf William Sidaway in Quarry Bank. He was born 1843 and married Caroline Hazelhurst. They had 3 children, Gertrude, Howard and Horace. His father was Samuel Sidaway b 1799, in turn Samuel was son of Joel Sidaway b1764 All these Sidaways lived in Bower Lane, Quarry Bank( ? Joel). Samuel and William were spade and shovel makers. Joel was a "Furnace man". I have further data on their offspring. I speculate that his was a small operation hand forging small items from billets from which his sons acquired their skills and specialized in spades Caroline Hazelhurst was a milliner and William became a haberdasher after marriage. Shop was in QB High Street. He died and left the business to Horace who crashed it. Horace's younger son Arthur died in 1990 approx and left no children. I have data on the decendents of Horace and Gertrude. Howard appeared to die early. It is the usual clogs to clogs tale. The zenith appears to be William who became a prominent figure in Quarry Bank. I have much of his personal history in original docs. He was a bon viveur. I have a menu from the Royal Oak QB of the QB Tradesmans Association, (Chairman WS). The food and wines would do Gordon Ramsey credit. Gertrude married Fred Grosvenor of QBand had one daughter Beryl Ivy. I am indebted to Dorothy Walker and J Langdell for much of my data. Hope we can find some links Roger Thompson.
