Hi Helen >>NB For all !! Never use preview in a mail program - as that can in some instances trigger virus attachments.<< Only if you view the email in HTML format - if you set to view in Plain Text only then the malicious script in such emails cannot function. Kind regards Polly
I must agree that the primary option for the use of email and the internet is to ensure you have an up to date Virus Protection program, one which automatically updates daily. I have a bought one and AVG Free which protect my PC, but as virus are always being found the daily upload is imperative. In addition the firewall, in my case I have a Router/Modem which does that function for me, and gives me clear wireless connection. It means I can use a laptop in any part of the house, it even reaches next door and we are detached. I don’t know what method was being used when someone had problems, wireless LAN connection can be good. I use a preview option in Outlook, and have not had virus problems, in fact I find the Ad-Ware links more troublesome than viruses. Again there are many free program around which remove and block these very successfully. If anyone wants any more info then mail me off list. I think it is better to protect yourself and thus allow you to have the benefit of the options in the programs than limiting yourself.
