I have William Edward Evans born 23.10.1877 whose father was Samuel Evans , a stained glass manufacturer. His mother was Elizabeth Evans nee Parkes. The address of birth was Oldbury Road Smethwick. Will was known to me after his retirement. He was a senior (Chief?) lighthouse Lens grinder at Chance and Hunt in Smethwick. He was profoundly deaf, thought to be an understandable (but inexcusable) industrial injury. He married Elsie Hingley and in later life lived in Vicarage Road Langley Green. Elsie was a robust school teacher and a trenchant socialist. Will was a quiet and kindly man. They had no children. I have a good line on Elsie's genealogy but not Will's. Hope this links in. Roger Thompson.
