Hello Pat, You are of course quite correct, on many estates a gamekeeper reared pheasant and partridge for the shooting season, it varied very much from estate to estate. Some estates in Hampshire prided themselves on their fishing. Others on Shooting. In the other parts and particularly here in Scotland it would be fishing for Salmon and of course Deer Stalking. Probably the most dangerous part of the job was going with a nervous guest. Ted
