Hi folks Firstly please forgive the slight ramblings :) For years I have been trying to find my Maternal Grandfather's elder sister. Her name was Eleanor Maud YATES ("Nellie") she was born in late 1883 in Wolverhampton, daughter of Joseph & Merab (nee FOSTER.) In Dec 1904 (aged 21) she was a witness at her elder brother's wedding in Wolverhampton. After this she seemed to have disappeared. According to my Mother she was never spoken of in the family for some reason. Now, I loosened a few bricks in the wall and found her wedding! It was held at St Lawrence's Church, Darlaston on the 26 Mar 1905. She married a Thomas BATES, Bachelor, a House Painter (age 25) son of James BATES of Willenhall Street, Darlaston. Eleanor's details were - Spinster (aged 21) dau of Joseph YATES (deceased in 1891) The address she gives is 8 Cramp Hill, Darlaston. The witnesses are Hurbert RICHRDS and Mary Jane MILLINGTON. Is there anyone out there researching the BATES surname that can help with what happened to Tomas and Eleanor after 1905? Any help would be very gratefully received All the best from Down Under Ian -- Ian Beach Bunbury, Western Australia ian@sedgleymanor.com Website "The Ancient Manor of Sedgley" in Staffordshire at http://www.sedgleymanor.com Listowner ENG-STS-SEDGLEY at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-STS-SEDGLEY.html Researching: Sedgley, Staffordshire : ADDIS(S), BEACH, CASWELL, GUTT(E)RIDGE, HOPKINS, FLAVELL, MILLARD & TURLEY Darlaston, Staffordshire : FOSTER, ORME & YATES Shropshire : ADDIS(S), BEACH, CASWELL
