hey peeps, this just arrived in the inbox, from another list, and amused my sense of humour! "spatial awareness group" is that kinda like Hey Im aware of space? whatever! anyway, thought it might muse away some time for the curious amongst us LOL >>>When you try out the Spatial Awareness Group here's something else that's fascinating. Having entered a surname to look at you will have a list of options at the top of the 'answer' page. One of the headings is 'Geographical Location'. This page gives you the frequency and most common location of your surname in 1881, amongst other things. However, also on the page, in the table marked 'Social Demographics' is a 'mosaic' classification which is given as a strange name, for example my surname, RIDOUT, is 'Sepia Memories'. There is also link to the Mosaic website where you can download a PDF document 'Mosaic UK Group and Type Descriptions'. http://www.business-strategies.co.uk/Content.asp?ArticleID=566 This is a fascinating work on demographics that defines social 'types' according to geographical area. Using the 'Sepia Memories' heading I read the type description for RIDOUT and, although it was describing modern folk, it still fitted what I had knew about my recent ancestors to a tee. Test it with a family name where you know a lot about the individuals and how they lived - hopefully then you will see that I mean - it's hard to describe very eloquently!!.<<<< Mellie How Come My Coat Of Arms Has Buckles At The Back?
